NAME: Gabriel "Gabe" Matthews NAME MEANING: m = "strength of god" RACE: Human/Former archangel AGE: 30 OCCUPATION: None/Former messenger of God AFFILIATION: Good POWERS: None PERSONALITY: Gabriel had spent a lot of time in the human world to know what sarcasm meant and could understand the personality of a human as if he was one as well. God allowed Gabriel to keep his wits, using this as a sort of mechanism to deal with real life situations with the mortals. In terms of God, Gabriel had devoted himself to the Lord despite knowing the lies contorted to keep him and his brother Cain safe. As of now, Gabriel has been turned human and his personality differs from time to time. He is often curious, not holding any kind of demanding undertones and never argumentative. BACKGROUND: Gabriel was an angel who served as a messenger for God. He first appeared in the Book of Daniel in the Hebrew Bible. In some traditions he is regarded as one of the archangels, or as the angel of death. He is also known as Saint Gabriel to some Christian denominations. Christians and Muslims believed him to have foretold the births of John the Baptist and Jesus. Islam further believes he was the medium through whom God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, and that he sent a message to most prophets, if not all, revealing their obligations. He is called the chief of the four favored angels and the spirit of truth, and in some views Gabriel is the same as the Holy Spirit. Gabriel came to Earth to release the demon Lucifer from Hell, having believed that mortals could not be forgiven for their sins. He wished to purge the mortal world into Hell, seeing that the souls would know real pain upon entering Lucifer's dominion. Gabriel was betrayed by Lucifer and was punished by God for his misguidance. It was only when the archangel Michael fell that Gabriel was released from his confinements, once again pledging his oath and gaining control of Michael's duties, becoming God's lead angel. Gabriel gave Callie Davis what she needed in order to vanquish the demon Naberius. He spent his later years helping those around the world and keeping himself out of major events until the apocalypse came into play again. When Hell opened up he did his part in helping fight off demonic horde, but not even God's might was strong enough to fight off the pure evil that poured out of the Hellmouth, forcing Gabriel and his fellow angels into retreat. Gabriel had no choice but to slowly help mankind rebuild from such a destructive war. In order to remove Michael Custos from his destructive path Gabriel revealed to the former archangel that he has a son - Jacob Reyes. Because of this Gabriel has been removed once again from heaven and given mortality. He currently resides with Eddie Toloni, Ashton Crick, Rosabella Toloni and Madison Covington.
